Regional Fondart 2018

The 2002 Census showed 1,27% of the resident population in Chile were immigrants; 15 year later, 746.465 immigrants were censused, which represents 4,35% of the country’s total population, being Maule one of the regions south of the capital with more immigrants, 10.780 of them (INE 2017). Immigration is a current issue, which has become specially visible in the last few years because of the immigration of Venezuelans, Haitians, and Colombians. Many of them have started doing services work that are very visible to our society, thus the general perception is immigration has increased rapidly these last years.

An environment full of young students, eager for interesting topics, current issues, debates, and questioning, as well as in search of conclusions, will certainly be a rich and fruitful environment.

The mural set up along the migratory issue in one of the most important state universities in the country, Universidad de Talca.  An environment full of young students, eager for interesting topics, current issues, debates, and questioning, as well as in search of conclusions, will certainly be a rich and fruitful environment, where the mural, during its development and permanent exhibition, will give rise to talk, discuss and raise awareness about a current reality.
